What was measured
Bonn-Miller and colleagues purchased 84 CBD products online from 31 companies and compared their labels with laboratory measurements. Twenty-six products were within the study’s 10% CBD-label tolerance; 36 contained more CBD than stated and 22 contained less. THC was detected in 18 products. Original research letter.
How to interpret it
This was a historical product sample, not an estimate of every product sold today. Detecting THC in a product does not establish that every user will have a positive drug test or experience intoxication. The finding concerns unreliable labeling in the sampled market; it does not demonstrate that CBD itself turns into THC in people.
